When it was announced that The Beatles were breaking up, it caused a great sadness to a great many people. As only music can (especially our age of music), The Beatles’ songs had marked the times through which we had passed. The Beatles had written and performed so many songs that there was always one that would remind you of something, help you out, or give you hope. Upon hearing of the breakup of The Beatles, the BBC disc jockey played “We Can Work It Out.” That’s what he wanted to accept. George was singing “Here Comes the Sun” on their last record, but All Things Must Pass became the title of his first solo album. (FROM AN AMERICAN STORY)
