Nobody would understand this better, nor use it more to their advantage in that era, than Madonna. The number of seismic social and cultural shifts she somehow embodied reads like an inventory of the rift in the generations: from the Sixties’ spiritual quest for ”Further” and ”All You Need Is Love” to the Eighties’ ”Material Girl” and ”Greed is Good.” FROM AN AMERICAN STORY

You were either “on the bus” or “off the bus.” Regardless, Ken Kesey’s ultimate road trip – as captured by Tom Wolfe – will force you to decide which you are. Either is OK. The trip – literally and figuratively – will take you from the highest of highs to the depths of human behavior. The reader is forced to confront her/his limits, and the realization can be unsettling – but worth the price of admission.Where are you now? Honestly?
