*Proper title: “Rainy Day Women No. 12 & 35”
“I was so scared of marijuana the first time I smoked it, I didn’t even know what it was, or I never would have touched it. A joint was offered to me by a guy with a huge drooping mustache, who used to spend half of his time in Mexico, and who always smoked roll-your-own tobacco. I thought he was offering me a cigarette. As I lay in the hammock I suddenly noticed the shadows in the room growing longer, and time seemed to move eerily slow.
When I bought my first couple of joints I hid them in a can and buried them in the back yard. But when my friends got together and smoked them what would start out as a smirk would soon become uncontrollable peals of laughter everybody holding their stomachs and rolling on the floor.” (From ETHAN RUSSELL: AN AMERICAN STORY available here.)
