TRAFFIC “DEAR MR. FANTASY” 1972

All of this was conceived by Ron Coro for Dave Mason’s new record. Split Coconut. We all awaited Dave Mason (once of Traffic; he had performed on “Dear Mr. Fantasy”). Yet another Englishman living in L.A., Mason soon walked through the door, breaking into peals of laughter when presented with his mask. He placed it over his head and then sat atop the artificial sand dune, guitar in hand, a rough approximation of the headless horseman if the horseman had had a coconut in place of his void. I took pictures while the rest of the band lobbed coconuts, camera left to camera right.
