In 1949, when I was four, the amount of time the television was on was, say, 1/2 hour per day. Let’s assume that in those early shows the number of new images per minute was three. That would total to 630 new images per week. Since this number will grow substantially, and so we will be able to compare apples to apples, that would be 90 new, non related images per day.

By the 1950s however programming changed, especially for children. I watched Gunsmoke, Davy Crockett, Have Gun will Travel. Let’s up television viewing time to 7 hours per week and the number of cuts per minute to 8. That’s 480 new non related images per day, 3,360 per week.
