When I was in junior high school (1967-’70) the white kids listened almost exclusively to white bands, Beatles, Stones, Cream, while the African American kids preferred the Temptations, Supremes and Marvin Gaye.
Today, my music collection has an eclectic balance of almost everything, and this linked video documents the acceptance of “white” music among minorities. Music and sports have provided the best means of integrating and improving race relations in America. Though some will say it still exists, my life experiences in music and sports have inspired brotherhoods.
This video shows members of the healthcare workers’ union 1199c singing the Rolling Stones Satisfaction.
